Honorary Fellowships awarded at Leeds Trinity University

Seven outstanding individuals from across law, digital, psychology, health and social care, were awarded Honorary Fellowships by Leeds Trinity University for their contributions to their sectors and communities.

They all received their Honorary Fellowships from the University’s Chancellor, John Studzinski CBE, a leader in global business and renowned philanthropist. 

His Honour Judge Ahmed Nadim, Judge at the Bradford Crown Court and senior member of Lincoln House Chambers, is a distinguished legal professional and recognised champion of justice, equity and inclusion. When Judge Nadim began his legal career, he was one of only a few Asian barristers practicing in the UK, and he has shown a strong commitment to inclusivity in the legal field. 

Judge Nadim is an engaged supporter of education, having served as a mentor, speaker, and inspirational figure to Leeds Trinity University’s students and staff, sharing his experience to promote access, justice, and ambition. Judge Nadim’s work and impact align with the University’s mission to nurture integrity, leadership and social responsibility. 

Margaret House OBE, first Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University, is recognised as a transformational leader in higher education. Professor House joined Leeds Trinity University in 2013 as one of the few female Vice-Chancellors in the sector at the time. 

During her tenure, Leeds Trinity became known for outstanding employability outcomes, with 97% of graduates entering employment or further study. She oversaw the introduction of foundation years, work-based learning pathways, and degree apprenticeships, including the West Yorkshire Police Apprenticeship. In 2018, she was awarded an OBE for services to education.  

Professor House remains an advocate for the University’s values and continues to support its mission to transform lives through education rooted in care, opportunity, and excellence. 

Nick Hodgson, alumnus (Media and Geography, 1999) and founding member of Leeds indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs, is a well-known musician who generously gives time and attention to a range of charity causes. His charitable work includes support for Leeds-based children’s cancer charity Candlelighters and the Alzheimer’s Society.  

With Kaiser Chiefs, Nick received three Brit Awards in 2006. After leaving the band in 2012, Nick has continued to collaborate with an impressive list of artists including Mark Ronson & Q-Tip, The Vamps, Olly Murs, Dua Lipa, Duran Duran and Dame Shirley Bassey. Nick is an inspiring role model for students and alumni alike. 

Rebekah Wilson, alumna (Education with QTS, 2009) and Deputy Head Teacher, is an educational leader and Founder of the charity Zarach, which provides beds, bedding and essentials to children in poverty. Rebekah has expanded Zarach’s work through initiatives such as the Thrive programme, which connects families with wider support to break cycles of poverty. The charity now runs a food club, hygiene bank, uniform exchange, and holiday clubs.   

Rebekah continues to collaborate with Leeds Trinity University, speaking at the Champions of Childhood Conference, contributing to the Primary Education team, and engaging Childhood and Youth students with Zarach’s work. Her work powerfully enhances students’ employability and social awareness.  

Rebekah’s leadership is a living embodiment of Leeds Trinity’s mission. She brings together faith in human potential, practical action, and a vision for a more just society 

Professor Steve Peters, consultant psychiatrist and author of popular psychology and self-development book The Chimp Paradox, is the creator of the Chimp Model, a renowned framework for understanding and managing the human mind. His work has influenced Olympic athletes, business leaders, educators, and individuals seeking to reach their full potential.  

In 2024, Professor Peters delivered the keynote address at Leeds Trinity University’s Psychology Week Conference, attracting a wide audience and inspiring staff and students alike. Professor Peters’ focus on mental health, personal growth, and human potential enriches our academic community and enhances Leeds Trinity University’s national reputation as a centre for applied psychological education. 

Stuart Clarke MBE, Founder of Paceline Marketing and PR and Co-Founder and former Director of the Leeds Digital Festival, is a strategic leader, digital advocate, and valued partner of Leeds Trinity University. As co-founder and former Director of the Leeds Digital Festival—the UK’s largest open tech event—he helped position Leeds as a national and international tech hub. Stuart founded UK Tech Week, which brings together key organisations and tech professionals from all around the country, and created the Leeds Tech Map, a helpful visual guide to the companies that make up the Leeds tech sector.  

Through Leeds Digital Festival and Paceline, Stuart has supported Leeds Trinity with student placement opportunities, mentorships and employer partnerships, boosting the University’s contribution to the tech and digital skills pipelines in Leeds and the West Yorkshire region. 

Tom Riordan CBE, Second Permanent Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Care and former Chief Executive of Leeds City Council, is known for his significant economic and civic contributions to the Yorkshire region. His Inclusive Growth Strategy underpinned city-wide efforts to address poverty and health inequalities, two issues reflected in Leeds Trinity’s strategic aims and to which the University’s community has contributed alongside Leeds City Council and key stakeholders.  

As Chief Executive of Leeds City Council, Tom was a key supporter of Leeds Trinity University’s expansion, including the opening of our City Campus.

This year’s Fellows have all contributed to the work of the University, earned distinction in their areas of expertise and inspired our students.
